First spin correlation measurement for a pair of relativistic massive fermions

2019

WE ARE LOOKING FOR 1-2 STUDENTS OF PHYSICISTS INTERESTED IN JOINING US. Tasks: simulations and data analysis.

Second test  period  (P2)  25-28 January 2019 with the left Mott polarimeter and narrow collimators – a proof of a clear separation of the Moller events   and  the internal low-energy background

Third test/measurement period (P3)   9-15 July 2019 with the left Mott polarimeter and intermediate collimators; 119 runs recorded, data analysis in progress.Preliminary result for the Sherman function @ 2 MeV and 120 degrees from the measurement of beam asymmetry, in the range: 0.05 – 0.06. Two DRS4 modules used.

Fourth period (p4) forseen for January 2020. Change of detectors – PMT’s replaced with photodiodes (counter tests in October).

DRS4 modules intercalibrated (Warsaw).

Ongoing work: purchase of photodiodes, adapting scintillator housing and lightguides, tests of counters (Michał Drągowski+TUD team).

2018

First test period (P1) 19-22 October 2018  with the left Mott polarimeter and wide collimators; study of internal and external background.

2017

Tests of scintillation counters and data acquisition (DRS4 module) using a 90Sr radioactive source and cosmic muons.
