Testing of the characteristics of gas detectors.

For years, gas detectors have been the basic and in many cases irreplaceable detectors of charged particles in many physical experiments. The subject of the exercise is the study of detection parameters of gas detectors using innovative technologies of gas amplification (thicker-GEM) and signal digitization (Generic Electronic System for TPCs). During the exercise, the student will learn about the principles of operation of gas detectors and technologies developed to improve their characteristics. The implementation of the exercise requires knowledge of the basic tools of data analysis (eg. ROOT, pyROOT, gnuplot).
