Employees of the Department conduct research within the following research groups:
- CMS experiment at the LHC — participation in the collection and analysis of data from hadron collisions in the LHC accelerator at CERN
- Neutrino Group — participation in neutrino research in many international experiments
- The NA61/SHINE experiment — the study revolves around the collisions of heavy ions at the SPS accelerator at CERN.
- The MPD experiment with the NICA accelerator — Mutli-Purpose Detector is being built at the NICA heavy ion collider currently under construction at the United Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia.
- COMPASS — research on the so-called nucleon spin puzzle
- Pi Of the Sky — continuous observations of the night sky with high temporal resolution
- ILC/CLIC — work on future particle collider designs
- ZEUS — analysis of available data from measurements of deeply inelastic electron-proton scattering
- QUEST — study of spin correlations of quantum relativistic electron pairs
