„Precise atomic spectroscopy in search for unknown interactions”

I will present very recent results from high precision spectroscopy of the hydrogen versus the muonic hydrogen, the helium versus the muonic helium, with the aim to find discrepancies with predictions of the Quantum Electrodynamic theory, and to discover unknown yet interactions at the atomic scale.

„Vector Boson Scattering as a gate to New Physics”

In the lack of direct observation of new particles at the LHC, indirect searches for physics beyond the Standard Model gain new importance.

Vector Boson Scattering (VBS) processes provide crucial tests of the Standard Model mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking and allow for indirect searches for New Physics.  After a pedagogical introduction to the physics of VBS, I will present the concept of BSM searches in the quasi-model-independent framework of effective field theories, their current status and future plans.  I will give a review of recent VBS-related results from the LHC Run 2 data collected by the CMS experiment and selected advances in theory and phenomenology.

„Searches for long-lived particles at CMS”

Models beyond the SM predict new particles with a wide range of lifetimes. The weak-scale particles can get a long lifetime which lead to unconventional signatures in the detector with respect to these from prompt decays, often requiring customized techniques to trigger and identify them.

The CMS experiment at the LHC collider puts a growing effort to expand the reach for long-lived signals. During the seminar, recent studies on long-lived particles will be shown.
